The Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Advocacy condemned the return of soldiers implicated in serious abuses against Palestinian detainees. It said this move provides official cover for impunity and exposes a system built on organized state violence.
It stressed that these are not isolated incidents but part of a deliberate policy. Responsibility lies with the leadership, including figures such as Zamir and others who enable abuse inside prisons.
The Center said proposed legislation allowing the execution of prisoners fits into this pattern. It described it as a shift toward legalized killing and a sign of intent to physically eliminate detainees under legal cover.
It also criticized international and human rights bodies for inaction. Despite documented abuses, including sexual violence amounting to rape, there has been no real accountability. The Center said this amounts to complicity.
According to the Center, detainees face harsh conditions. They endure torture, starvation, and medical neglect on a daily basis, without meaningful international protection.
It concluded that these ongoing violations place responsibility on the international community. Urgent action is needed to stop the abuses and hold those responsible accountable.
